Felt Owl Beanbags

Way back when, I made these adorable felt owls for my nephew. I had the grandest of intentions of making a set of these counting bean bags for each of my nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, school and life got the best of me and my intentions got away from me. Still, I think they're adorable. Someday I'll make them again.

I forgot to mention that the idea (and maybe even the pattern? it's been a long time) came from the lovely and charming Cicada.

I remember when you first posted about these. They are darling! Did you use a pattern or just make them up yourself? Also, did you use wool felt or just regular felt? And what did you stuff them with?

Charlotte--I adjusted the post to reflect where I got the idea. I know I added the numbers on my own. I printed the largest size bold font numbers that I could fit on the back of the owl, then just stitched around it. I ripped the paper off after the numbers were finished.

I used wool felt that I ordered somewhere online. I bought fat quarters in a bunch of colors. I'd have more than enough to make at least three more sets of owls from those pieces of felt if I ever got around to it. I thought the wool felt just had a nicer feel about it than synthetic felt.

I had originally planned to stuff them with beans, but ended up using poly fill. I thought they were just safer for my 1-year-old nephew.

Let me know if you have more questions!

I think that these are just adorable! They make me want some too, although I already know how to count.
